We are excited to perform a night of Latin Jazz featuring the music of Brazil, and the exquisite music of Antônio Carlos Jobim. A songwriter, composer, and arranger, Jobim transformed the extroverted rhythms of the Brazilian Samba into an intimate musical experience. He was also credited with the first bossa nova hit single, “Chega de Saudade” (1958; “No More Blues”) which became an international success in the 1960s and launched this wildly popular dance movement. Featured on piano is Victor Mestas and Carl Dixon on percussion. Both artists are well-known for their expertise playing Brazilian music and are educators at CU Boulder. Vocalist, Heidi Schmidt will round out this fantastic night of Latin music.
